Shitbox Rally – Autumn 2019: MEET THE TEAMS PART 2

May 13, 2019

The Shitbox Rally has officially kicked off and after introducing a team last week, this week we want to highlight Team Freo! As the adventure continues, we want to showcase some of the drivers taking part in the Shitbox Rally – Autumn 2019 event, starting in Perth and heading for Sydney via Uluru.

So what is the Shitbox Rally?

Well, you can find out more about it here, but essentially it is a road trip from one iconic Australian destination to the next in cars worth $1,000 or less (shit boxes) to raise much-needed funds for cancer research.

For 2019, it is the 10th anniversary for the Shitbox Rally events so Founder, James Freeman and the team, are taking on the outback in Australia, not just once, but twice, in two different Shitbox rallies, read more here.

Anyway, so let’s look at Team Freo!

The 1992 Holden Apollo is Team Freo’s Shitbox Rally car, which they sourced from the Perth Beer Economy. It was donated to them for free after Team Freo explained what they were using it for! They were also given the painted guitars, stereo and even a Cannon from New Zealand supplied and shipped for free. So it cost a grand total of about $350 for the team!

They have taken part in other rallies and in the 2018 Rally from Brisbane to Darwin they raised $15,000. This year we have raised an incredible $23,500 – so far!

If someone is interested in the car at the auction…..

It’s a licence to print money, why? Well, people just want to take photos of it and talk to you about the rally so it makes fundraising a lot easier. As the Holden Apollo owners, they would love to see this car go to people that continue to use it as a Shitbox Rally car raising even more funds for cancer research.

Buy this car and let this mighty Apollo put your fundraising into the stratosphere.

The rally kicked off on Wednesday, May 8 and finishes in Sydney on Friday, May 17. The auction to sell the Shitbox rally cars will be on Saturday, May 18 at 10:00am at Manheim Moorebank. See the cars on offer, please click here – or for more on the event, please go here.

Manheim is a proud supporter of the Shitbox Rally!
