October 2, 2018

So you’ve been to an auction before or you know how they work. We have lanes of cars going through our massive auction sheds at our sites across any Manheim location in Australia, New Zealand and the world.

But did you know all the weird and wonderful places Manheim have actually auctioned off assets? Thanks to our amazing online platform, Simulcast, we can auction cars or assets almost anywhere!

In Australia we have had some great ones over the years, so let’s take a look!

  • In the outback! We have had many rural off-site auctions including
    • Geraldton WA – a major seaport in remote WA
    • Westown New Zealand – a small country town in New Plymouth
    • Otorohanga New Zealand – small country town approx. 3hrs drive south of Auckland farm/forest area
    • Marthaguy NSW – remote NSW farming district approx. 2.5 hrs from Dubbo
    • Katherine NT – rural Northern Territory, 3.5 hrs drive from Darwin
    • Port Hedland WA – mining town in the Pilbara region of WA. Located 17h drive from Perth
  • An airport hangar – for the Final Four Ford auction in 2016 we auctioned live from an airport hangar at Avalon
  • South Australian football oval – for the final Holden Commodore auction

Internationally, Manheim has also held some amazing auctions using the Simulcast platform, here is just a taste!

  • At sea, on an island (No Man’s Fort) – off the coast of the Isle of Wight near Portsmouth, England (read more here)
  • Aircraft carrier – yes that is right! Called the USS Midway in San Diego, you can read more on it here
  • Winery – Wente Vineyards, Livermore, California
  • Amphitheatre – Meeting room at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver
  • The Cosmopolitan hotel in Las Vegas
  • Minor league baseball field in the US

Our ability to auction assets from any part of the world shows our customers the dedication we have to provide the best possible service, whether we are auctioning on or off-site.

Generally, our operating locations hold weekly trade and public auctions for passenger cars and commercial vehicles, 4WDs and damaged vehicles while truck and machinery auctions are held monthly.
