Manheim participates in International Women’s Day

March 16, 2018

As part of Cox Automotive Australia and New Zealand, Manheim officially launched the ‘Women With Drive’ program for 2018 to support International Women’s Day.

Women With Drive (WWD) originated in Atlanta in 2015 and exists to celebrate the work of women in the automotive industry.

It is an inclusive movement built to support female achievements, aspirations and successes, with a ‘think big’ attitude and a space for every voice. Since launching in Cox Automotive in the US and the United Kingdom (UK) the program has held regular events and has empowered women and men in the Cox Automotive team, championing equality and ambition both in and out of the workplace.

To launch the WWD program, Cox Automotive AU/NZ provided insightful presentations, networking opportunities and contributed to raising funds for domestic violence and creating awareness to our team members.

The 2018 International Theme for International Women’s Day is #PressforProgress and as part of this theme we had many events, not just at Manheim, but at other Cox Automotive Australia and New Zealand brands including CarsGuide and Dealer Solutions.

Manheim, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and Sydney held events to support WWD and International Women’s Day. Melbourne hosted the official launch event for WWD with presentations from CAA/NZ leaders, an afternoon tea and keynote speaker former Victorian Police Commissioner, Christine Nixon who delivered some wonderful insights into her experiences and some of the more challenging situations she encountered across her career.

All of our other Manheim sites held a networking morning or afternoon tea to support WWD and International Women’s Day with all our team members supporting the fight for change and equality. Launching the WWD program, sharing the strategy, and our intentions for WWD was a momentous occasion for the business and in line with International Women’s Day was the perfect time to launch.

The next phase for WWD will be holding regular events that empower women and men in the Cox Automotive team to champion equality both in and out of the workplace.

As a global company, our Cox Automotive family are actively taking part to support International Women’s Day and this year a team of 10 women from Cox Automotive climbed Mount Kilimanjaro at the end of February.

The group of women from Cox Automotive started the six-day trek, crossing various terrains to reach the summit of Africa’s tallest mountain – a 19,341ft-high dormant volcano in Tanzania – raising over $35,000 for disabled children’s charity Wooden Spoon in the process.

All 10 reached the top of Kilimanjaro and returned safely much of the admiration of our entire company.

Cox Automotive strives for equality in our workplace, to harness the talent and to empower women to take on new challenges and succeed in the Cox Automotive business, whether that be in Australia, New Zealand or around the world.
