Autotrader name timeless movie cars and find you their real-life counterparts – and Australian car classified site, CarsGuide, have them on offer!

March 5, 2018

There are times when the lead actor isn’t the only one in the spotlight. The 90th annual Academy Awards took place at the beginning of the month, on March 4, and while there was no award for “Best Car in a Supporting Role,” there have been plenty of vehicles deserving of a statue over the years. The editors at Autotrader and Australian car classified site, CarsGuide, are helping you find your favourite cars from the big and small screen, or an excellent stand-in, for sale on the car buying site.

Autotrader experts have picked the top movie cars that have proven to be timeless over the years, and now you can find this bit of cinema magic listed on CarsGuide. And if you can’t find the real-deal we have picked some outstanding supporting vehicles in that class that are more suited for most shoppers.

DeLorean: “Back to the Future”

The DeLorean from “Back to the Future” is quite possibly the most famous movie car of all time. Look out on CarsGuide to see if we have a DeLorean for sale, but if doesn’t exactly fit your lifestyle, you can take your own trip to the future with one of the more technologically advanced cars on the market; for instance, a Tesla Model X – known for its fully electric powertrain, giant centre screen, gullwing doors and impressive self-driving capabilities.

Dodge Charger: “Fast and Furious”

Throughout the first movie in the massive “Fast and Furious” franchise, the lead character drove a highly recognisable 1970 Dodge Charger R/T. CarsGuide currently have a 1971 Dodge Charger, but keep searching, we get different cars posted online all the time! You might be surprised to discover you can also buy a Nissan Skyline GT-R on CarsGuide.

 Cadillac Ambulance: “Ghostbusters”

The original “ECTO-1” from “Ghostbusters” was a 1959 Cadillac that had been converted into a hearse or an ambulance, much in the same way today’s utes can be modified for all sorts of jobs. The Ghostbusters’ Cadillac was longer than most full-size utes. However, some of the old Holden and Ford panel vans look very similar to the Ghostbusters vehicle. CarsGuide have a range of Holden FC’s and HJ’s or try the Ford F100.

Pontiac Firebird: “Knight Rider”

Ask anyone to name the star of 1980s TV series “Knight Rider” and you’re sure to hear Michael Knight’s name – followed closely by “KITT,” the talking, artificially intelligent 1982 Pontiac Firebird that was Knight’s partner in crime fighting. If you want your own KITT, the third-generation Firebird body style was sold from 1982 to 1991, and CarsGuide currently have one in bright green from 1980.

Jeep Wrangler: “Jurassic Park”

Although the most famous car from the original “Jurassic Park” movie was undoubtedly the first-generation Ford Explorer, the enduring icon of the film has been the Jeep Wrangler models used by park staff. It’s now difficult to find an early 1990s Wrangler that hasn’t been modified to the hilt, so you might prefer the iconic Ford Explorer – at CarsGuide we have both on offer. Additionally, there’s the Mercedes-Benz ML320 – the star of the sequel, “The Lost World”.
