We Australian’s love going off the beaten track to discover the vast tracts of land we have preserved in our country. Some Australian’s always know a ‘back way’ to get to most places because they love to go off road.
Motorcycle riders are no different.
We have a lot of land to explore – around 7.7 million kms to give you a figure – so what better way to do it than on two wheels?
Off-road riding is a great way to get outdoors, explore those un-driven tracks and see part of nature that people in cars or on foot wouldn’t normally go to or get to see.
With so much land to ride over, there are so many trails in different parts of Australia that you haven’t even seen yet.
Not only can you do this alone or with friends, but there are sanctioned events including organised trail rides ran in Australia. Clubs and organisations are given one-off permits to run these events for all off-road motorcycle lovers.
Why not turn your love for going off the road into a holiday? Outback Adventure Treks offer a range of motorcycle tours that offer the ultimate off-road motorcycle adventure which includes many different locations around Australia, giving you the ability to experience different parts of our outback.
Off-road motorcycles are a popular choice amongst us Aussie’s, but can you blame us? We have a lot of free space in this big country.
Anthony Poci, our Manheim National Account Manager and motorcycle specialist at the business, shares some interesting facts about off-road motorcycles that you might not know.
“Overall purchases of off-road motorcycles in Australia in 2016 accounted for 35 percent of the total market with just under 40,000 sales and this has risen since 2015.
Yamaha would be the most popular off-road motorcycle with brands like Honda, KTM, Kawasaki and Suzuki being other good choices if you are looking to buy”.
Here at Manheim we sell a range of motorcycles weekly as part of our online-only auction every Friday. We sell a range of off-road motorcycles and we also sell salvage motorcycles, which are good for purchasing if you require parts or spare parts for your own collection.
“Manheim sell a full range of Adventure, Off Road, Trail and Motorcross bikes from all the big brands including Honda, Yamaha, KTM, Husqvarna, Husaberg and many more.
Manheim sell over 4000 damaged and un-damaged motorcycles every year, many of which have been used purely as off road motorcycles. Manheim is also a great place to purchase damaged motorcycles for parts or full repair. This is however subject to the bike being repairable or WOVR exempt. Whilst the majority of the motorcycles we sell are damaged there are many un-damaged bikes available for purchase as well,” said Poci.
